Our Rooms

In our Baby Room we have a highly experienced staff team whose priority is to follow the home routine of each baby as closely as possible. We have a spacious play area and a quiet and secure sleeping area. We provide a variety of stimulating activities in a caring and friendly environment in order to promote your baby’s all-round development. All planning is displayed on the room wall for you to see what activities and developments your child will be participating in each week.

Parents are asked to supply nappies and milk to ensure continuity between home and nursery for all babies. We are a breast feeding friendly nursery and support mothers returning to work who still wish to breast feed. Our staff are trained in the storage of breast milk and we welcome you visiting to feed during the day where possible.

We would encourage your baby to advance to our Tweenie Room when they are around 12 months of age and once they have found their feet. This would take place after discussions with yourself.

Children in our Tweenie Room are cared for under the supervision of qualified and experienced staff. An extensive range of quality toys and activities are provided for the continuing development of your child.

The period in our Tweenie Room provides a smooth transition to the toddler stage by adopting a more challenging and varied approach to the day. We facilitate activities such as painting, sand and water play, music, physical activity and much more. Some of this may sound a little complicated for young children but it is possible for an eighteen month old child to play with sand and water or create a mini masterpiece with paint, and they love it!

After our Tweenie Room, we will look to move your child to our Toddler Room. This should happen when your child is about 2 years of age. Again, we will discuss the transition process with you before any room changes occur. In our Toddler Room children are cared for under the supervision of caring and experienced staff with a staff ratio of 1:5.

Our Toddler Room provides a more structured day with a much greater choice of learning opportunities including arts and crafts, construction activities, table top games and much more. We also introduce early numeracy and literacy skills and activities designed to develop your child’s communication skills.

Each day children spend time outside in our play areas or local park. Your child’s day is recorded for you to view through our E-Learning Journals so you will know what they have been learning at Happitots.

Happitots Nursery is recognised as a 3-5s Centre by the local Education Department. In our 3-5s Room children follows the Curriculum for Excellence.

An extensive variety of resources are available for our pre-school children. From our house corners to imaginative play, to our innovative ‘tablets’ which children are always keen to investigate!

We pride ourselves on ensuring that when children leave nursery to move on to school, they do so confidently and independently, whilst taking with them the enjoyment of learning and a pride in their achievements. We strive for your child to be able to have the following skills when leaving the nursery: recognising and writing their own name, demonstrating good observational skills, showing preliminary reading skills, good pencil control, showing creative skills and knowledge of numbers.

Happitots Nursery Bishopbriggs runs an Out of School Club for children from St Monica’s Primary, St Matthew’s Primary, Wester Cledden’s Primary and Balmuildy Primary schools. We drop off and collect children from their school, provide healthy snacks prepared by our on-site nursery chef, and offer a range of activities.

Children have the opportunity to move between 3 rooms – the main room, the quiet room and the games room. Children are encouraged to make their own choices about where to play and what they would like to do.  We facilitate role play games, outdoor play, baking, Wii games, board games, mark making, imaginative play, model making (from junk, clay and the perennial favourite Lego) and much more!

After tidy up time at 5pm, we play quieter games to encourage team building until children are collected.

During Holiday Club we try and book activities outside of the nursery premise, such as trips to soft play, the cinema, parks and museums.  If we are staying closer to home our children will choose their healthy lunch from our Holiday Club menu.

We are registered to take up to 20 children on a first-come-first-booked basis, so please contact us for more information or to book your place.

We love to get outside at Happitots, where we have a large outdoor play area for our 3-5s and Toddler children, a separate garden for Tweenies and a smaller garden area for Babies.  Each playroom has direct access to an outdoor play area offering the opportunity for regular outdoor learning activities across all areas of the curriculum.

Our outdoor areas are well resourced with quality toys and equipment suited for all ages, such as climbing walls, balancing beams, bikes, paling and growing and lots of outdoor arts and crafts.
